Mr. Mark Yonge, Managing Member, Maritime Transport & Logistics Associates, LLC (MARITIME ADVISORS)
Mr. Yonge's maritime transportation experience includes a broad cross-section of stevedoring, terminal operations, cargo handling of every kind, ship chartering, ship owning, shipyard contracting, labor relations and contract negotiations, as well as government relations & contracting. His maritime career commenced in the ship agency, terminal operating and stevedoring industry sectors before moving on to operating chartered specialized mobile home ships & project cargo vessels with a division of Sea-Land Service, Inc. After leaving Sea-Land, Mr. Yonge founded his own company operating foreign flag chartered vessels and later included purchasing and operating U.S. Flag break-bulk/container vessels.
Mr. Yonge has served as a consultant to the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) Short Sea Shipping Initiative and he currently serves as secretary of the Short Sea Shipping Cooperative Program (SCOOP) - a U.S. national public/private cooperative. He is also an associate member of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and a participant in the AAPA Professional Port Managers program (PPM), as well as a member of three (AAPA) working committees. He is also a member of a number of other industry committees and boards, including the Coastwise Coalition in Washington, D.C., the Gulf of Mexico States Accord (GOMSA), the Marine Transportation System National Advisory Council (MTSNAC) - Intermodal Infrastructure and Capacity committee, the MTSNAC - Waterways Committee, and a number of other maritime transportation organizations and associations.
Mark is currently the founder & managing member of Maritime Transport & Logistics Advisors, LLC (MARITIME ADVISORS), a highly-select group of well-known maritime professionals with an impressive array of comprehensive maritime transportation and corporate expertise. MARITIME ADVISORS affiliate consultants provide consulting services to the commercial maritime transportation industry, as well as to the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) and port authorities. MARITIME ADVISORS has also assisted in new company start-ups, business development, government & labor relations, financial services, EEO management and provided logistics advice to some of the largest firms in the maritime & shipping industry.
Mr. Yonge's work in the area of Short Sea Shipping includes having done an extensive study for MARAD on European Union Short Sea Shipping and a mission to the Cape Verde Islands as MARAD's designated agent for maritime assessment and recommendations for Cape Verdes Ports & Terminal operations. His company, MARITIME ADVISORS, recently completed a study for Port Canaveral and MARAD utilizing a unique new Probability Decision Tool developed by MARITIME ADVISORS.
He is also a sought-after speaker and panelist at maritime conferences, and has been an invited speaker at events such as the 2003 IANA/NITL/TSI Conference, the 2003 Joint IANA/AAPA seminar, the 2003 FHWA Talking Freight Seminar on Short Sea Shipping, the 2004 NDTA Forum and Exposition Professional Program on Short Sea Shipping, the 2004 15th Annual Breakbulk Conference Short Sea Shipping round table, the 2005 JOC Domestic Maritime Conference in Hilton Head Island, S.C., the 2005 S.E. Regional Propeller Club Conference, and the 2005 U.S. Exporters Competitive Maritime Council (ECMC) meeting in Savannah, GA, and a number of others.
