Mark Snead - Information Technology and Web Site Consultant
Mark retired in 2002 after 20 successful years with Accenture. He served in numerous leadership roles, co-chaired a key committee for Accenture’s 10 year strategic planning effort – Horizon 2010, lead several large systems projects, managed key executive relationships with clients and alliance partners and provided mentoring to consultants and clients.
In his most recent role, Managing Partner – Solutions Engineering Capability Development, Mr. Snead developed and executed Accenture’s alliance partner strategy. In this role, he worked with key executives at alliance partner companies such as IBM and Entrust to develop joint go-to-market initiatives and drive their implementation throughout the global organization. During this period Mr. Snead was also responsible for revamping the Knowledge Management and Curriculum Strategies for the 30,000 consultants in Accenture’s Systems Building practice. Leveraging his experiences, he provided further advice and guidance to the rest of the firm through serving on Global Leadership Committees for Alliances, Professional Development and Solutions Engineering.
As a result of the recommendations of Mr. Snead and other leaders of the Horizon 2010 strategic planning effort, Accenture implemented a major shift in their ‘go-to-market’ strategy. Operating Units were created along industry lines as a replacement for the geographically centric organization of the past. As a component of that strategy, Mr. Snead was responsible for consolidating 5 separate geographically focused technology groups from around the globe into a single, cohesive unit – Global Technology Integration Services (GTIS) to support these the new operating units. Mr. Snead traveled extensively from Asia to Europe to South America and across the US to implement a consistent vision and set of processes to combine the groups into a unified and valuable asset within Accenture. He worked with clients and Accenture industry unit leadership to develop a precise understanding of the client opportunities created by emerging technologies and further developed the strategic strategies and plans to build the capability to exploit those opportunities.
Mr. Snead’s clients included the U.S. Department of Education – Office of Federal Student Aid, Dominion Virginia Power, Florida Power & Light, Baltimore Gas & Electric and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr. Snead served in the US. Army from 1974-1977. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Tech in 1980 and his Masters of Business Administration from the Johnson Graduate School of Business at Cornell University in 1982. He also attended and served as faculty for numerous Accenture training courses.
